这座赖恩爵将军第，更像一座迷宫。穿过一道道门，行过一条条巷，稍不注意就会迷失方向。将军第里的巷子特别窄，两手撑开就可以抵住两侧巷墙，从防卫角度看，有“一夫当关，万夫莫开”的效果。
由于巷子高而且窄，太阳能照进来的时间就很短，这也是它凉爽的原因，因而被称为“冷巷”。

Because the alley is high and narrow， it can only be exposed to sunlight for a short time， which is why it is cool． Therefore， these alleys are called＂cold alley＂．
