"To get a shot? Do you have an appointment?" In Shekou People's Hospital Technology Building vaccination site, a foreigner in red vest is busy in line. Receiving residents, checking health code, guiding appointment-making, maintaining order……as an international volunteer, Gannet Wystix and Shenzhen "Red Vest" work side by side and dedicate their strength to fight against the COVID-19.

当志愿者，来自美国的Gannet不算新兵。2020年初疫情一发生，他便加入到招商街道的志愿群体中来。从起初的守社区卡口、筛查居民二维码，到后来的协助指引疫苗接种，Gannet每周都会抽出几天参与志愿服务，成为了奔波在战疫一线的“红马甲”之一。

As a volunteer, Gannet, born and raised in the United States, is not a rookie. He joined the volunteer community as soon as the COVID-19 began in early 2020. From guarding the community checkpoints and screening residents＇ QR codes at the beginning, to assisting in guiding vaccination appointment－making, Gannet volunteering several days a week and becoming one of the "red vest" working on the frontline．

科技大厦新冠疫苗接种点，也是深圳外籍、港澳台人士新冠疫苗定点接种点之一，许多会讲外语的国际志愿者来到这里为外籍人士提供帮助。在这些国际志愿者中，全职妈妈谢金燕给Gannet留下了深刻印象。

Shekou People's Hospital Technology Building vaccination site is one of the designated site for foreigners and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residences who live and work in Shenzhen. Many volunteers who speak foreign languages come and provide help for these people. Among the volunteers, Gannet was impressed by stay-at-home mother Jennifer．

曾是IT工程师的谢金燕在全球多个国家生活过，说着一口流利的英语。“我现在虽然是全职妈妈，但有一份热爱就应该奉献一份光。”“5．21”疫情发生后，谢金燕便加入到国际志愿者队伍中来。“我们根据不同国家准备了不同语言的表格，其中包括日语、韩语、英语等。每当有外籍人士前来，我们就要接待他们，询问是否有社保，告诉他们怎么预约，帮助他们挂号、取号、缴费。工作虽然很琐碎，但这些平凡的事情也会散发出不平凡的光。”

As a former IT engineer, Jennifer has lived in several countries around the world and speaks fluent English. "Although I am a stay-at-home mother now, I think if there is a love, it should be dedicated to a light．" After the outbreak of the COVID-19 on May21, Jennifer joined the international volunteer team．

" We have prepared forms in different languages for people different countries, including Japanese, Korean, English and so on. Whenever foreigners come, wehave to receive them, ask them if they have social insurance, tell them how to make an appointment, help them register, pick up the number and pay the fee. Although the work is trivial, these ordinary things will also emit extraordinary light．"

跟Gannet谈起现场的医护人员，谢金燕热泪盈眶。“这里的每一位工作人员，每一天都这么认真负责，我也在尽我所能帮助别人，挺高兴的。”

Talking to Gannet about the medical staff, tears scalded Jennifer's eyes. " Everyone here is so conscientious and responsible every single day, and I'm happy to help as much as I can. "

对于深圳的疫情防控工作，Gannet大加赞赏。他认为，深圳之所以做得这么好，除了有像谢金燕这样一批无私奉献的志愿者外，更是因为这座城市以及政府重视每一位市民的生命。

“在深圳，无论你是什么职业、什么国籍、什么地位，这座城市都同等重视你的生命健康。虽然我也是一名志愿者，但作为一名外国人，每当看到医护人员以及志愿者同行们无差别的对待我们、帮助外国人群体的时候，我由衷地想对他们说声‘谢谢’。”

Gannet praised Shenzhen for the COVID-19 prevention and control efforts. He believes Shenzhen has done so well not only because of the selfless volunteers like Jennifer, but also because the city and the government value the lives of every citizen．

" No matter what occupation you are, what nationality you are, or what status you are in, Shenzhen values your life and health equally. I'm a volunteer, but also a foreigner. I really want to say 'thank you' to all the medical workers and fellow volunteers because of the indiscriminately treatment. "

Gannet曾走过中国20多个城市，在他眼里，“红马甲”赋予了深圳更多温度。两年前，Gannet来到深圳便体会到这座“志愿之城”带给他的温暖。为了将这份温暖传递下去，他也披上“红马甲”，投身到志愿工作中。

“我很高兴成为了他们其中的一员，跟他们一起并肩工作。此刻，深圳人民都在携起手来，共同战疫——相信我们一定会胜利！让我们一起继续努力吧！”

Gannet has visited more than 20 cities in China. In his eyes, the "red vest" gives Shenzhen morewarmth. Since coming to Shenzhen 2 years ago, Gannet has experienced the warmth brought by Shenzhen, the "City of Volunteers", all the time. In order to pass it on, he dons his "red vest" and devotes himself into volunteer work as well．

" I'm very happy to be one of them and work with them side by side. At the moment, the people of Shenzhen are working together to fight the COVID-19. So please, let's work together and fight this together！"
