LEE KYUNG-HOON, vice mayor of Busan in South Korea, said on his first visit to Shenzhen that the Chinese calligraphy on show at the ongoing cultural fair had impressed him most.
"Those calligraphy works are very special, which showed the depth of the Chinese culture," said Lee, who is familiar with the Chinese script, Thursday night. "We can see the personality from the calligraphy a person writes."
Lee said he hoped that fair organizers would someday invite calligraphy masters from China, Japan and South Korea to discuss and display their works.
Li had a tight schedule Thursday: He attended the opening ceremony of the cultural fair, visited fair booths in the morning, visited Yantian port in the afternoon and signed a friendship agreement between Shenzhen and Busan in the evening. And he was still in a good mood when interviewed by the Shenzhen Daily at the Wuzhou Guest House that night.
"I am also impressed by the No. 1 hall where people from different parts of China displayed their local specialties in various ways. Chinese culture is really colorful," Lee said.
