OMAN and Shenzhen have great potential in the fields of economic cooperation, especially power generation and petrochemicals, a senior Oman official said Tuesday.
Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki, Oman’s national economic minister, visited Guangdong recently at the invitation of Zhang Dejiang, Party secretary of Guangdong Province.
Macki said he was deeply impressed by Shenzhen’s discipline, cleanliness and rapid development.
Oman only has a small investment in Shenzhen, through China Gas Holdings Ltd., in which Oman Oil Co. owns shares.
“We hope to invest more in other projects in Shenzhen, and projects in other Chinese cities as well,” said Macki, adding that he was also hoping to see more cooperation in the private sector.
Macki, who visited Shenzhen’s Dapeng liquefied natural gas (LNG) project and petrochemical plants in Huizhou, said Oman and Shenzhen have huge potential to cooperate in power generation and petrochemical sectors.
Macki invited Shenzheners to invest in Oman or travel to the country. Oman is undergoing its seventh Five Year Plan and has plans to invest heavily in infrastructure such as seaports, airports and roads, he said.
