We propose that the Wuzhou Guest House be turned into the headquarters of the 26th Universiade. In the Universiade City, there is also a hotel with all the necessary equipments at the disposal of FISU. In those two hotels, we shall reserve special rooms to serve as offices and business suites for FISU, in the hope of offering comfortable and quick service.

As stipulated by the Statutes of FISU, the 26th Universiade will last 11 days, with 10 major compulsory sports and three major optional sports. We include sailing, badminton and shooting as optional sports, because these three sports are very popular in Shenzhen and elsewhere in China. We already have good infrastructure to cater for them to ensure exciting competitions that may draw large crowds. If FISU has any suggestions to make with regard to the sports, consultations can be held at anytime.

Apart from the exciting competition, what other things do the enthusiastic young people look for? I have studied abroad. I am an athlete myself and now work in the field of sports. In particular, as a member of International Control Commission of FISU, I want to tell you that we are pondering over this question throughout our bid for the Universiade. Thanks to the enthusiasm of this youthful city, I may say with pride that we have found the answer to this question.

We have always kept in mind the responsibility of FISU to strengthen exchanges among the young people and promote world peace. For this purpose, we intend, under FISU guidance, to hold a forum on university sports during the 26th Universiade, the first summit of rectors of world-famous universities, world education exhibition, etc. to showcase the great achievements made in university education and sports across the world in an all-round way.
