The jewel in the crown of our plan is the Universiade City which covers 1,370 hectares. It is situated at the center of the first radiation belt of the city, about 15 kilometers from downtown. It is easily accessible, with four expressways and a railway crossing the Park. The undulating Shenxian and Tonggu Ridges form a natural green shield and the Longkou Reservoir enlivens the whole area. Despite the pressure of land use for urban development, we have reserved this piece of land for the Universiade, our long-cherished dream.

In this Universiade City, we plan to build a Universiade Park covering 700 hectares. It is a world-class sport park consisting of the main stadium of 60,000 capacity, a main gymnasium and a natatorium, a press center of 54,000 square meters of floor space and a forest encompassing the reservoir are just next to the park. According to our plan, this is going to be the core area of the 26th Universiade where all the main events such as the opening and closing ceremonies, athletics, swimming, diving, basketball, football and badminton matches will be held. Within the Universiade Park, the distance between each sport venue and the Universiade Village is no more than two kilometers. As for other sport and training venues, they are less than 30 minutes’ drive to the hotels of FISU officials, athletes, coaches and other personnel. Every detail is being considered carefully. During the Universiade, a special transport system will be put in place to facilitate the movement of the athletes. The Universiade Village are just next to the park. We will ensure that the rooms and offices for the athletes and accredited officials in the Universiade Village are well planned, well equipped and have ample space. This Universiade Village, with a capacity of 13,000, is equipped to meet the different needs of athletes of different cultures, religions and dietary habits. There will be first-class recreational facilities as well. Moreover, we plan to provide 2,000 rooms in eight hotels near the sport venues to accommodate technical representatives, referees and juries. For excess personnel of national delegations, 1,000 rooms of various grades will be available in the surrounding area of the Universidade Village. After the Universiade, the Village will become part of the local university infrastructure and the other sport venues will be open to universities and the public.
