一封请柬忽而至

共度大年三十除夕夜

体验北方春节特色

It’s a Chinese New Year that the foreign teachers didn’t plan for, but an invitation unexpectedly came. It was from Ms. Liu Jingchun, Principal of Bao’an Middle School (Group) Foreign Language School. She invited foreign teachers of her school to spend the Lunar New Year’s Eve together and experience how it is celebrated in the style of Northern China.

除夕的重头戏，当然要数年夜饭了。北方风俗吃饺子，大家动手试一试，孩子们兴致勃勃，外教也不甘落后。一个个鼓着肚子的元宝在锅里滚呀滚，一双双盼望的眼睛在锅边眨呀眨。一会儿功夫，热气腾腾的饺子就上桌了。

The most important part of the Lunar New Year’s Eve goes to the reunion dinner. As dumplings are a must of the cuisine, everyone tried making some. School kids were overjoyed, and the foreign teachers were fascinated. Dumplings rolling up and down in the pot, all the eyes were focused on them, full of expectation. Before long, beautiful dumplings were ready and served on the table.

航城学校六1班的Puna是地地道道的潮汕人，除夕到了，她邀请外教回到家中，一起感受潮汕人的除夕风俗。

Puna, a girl in Class 1 Grade 6 of Hangcheng School, is from Chaoshan Region. She invited James and Adam, her foreign teachers, to her home to experience the custom of her hometown on the Lunar New Year’s Eve.

团年饭是一家团圆欢聚的象征。潮汕人在祭拜完祖先后，将饭菜摆放好在桌上，一家人团团围坐，这是每个家庭大团圆的美好时刻。

The dinner of the Lunar New Year’s Eve is a symbol of the family reunion. After the ceremony of worshiping the ancestors, the food is laid out on the table and the whole family sit around it. It’s a beautiful moment of reunion for every family.
