大扫除，是春节前每家每户都要做的事情。在广东，人们常说“年二八，洗邋遢”。春节大扫除是中国人去除晦气，迎接喜气的一种方式，这一习俗寄托着人们破旧立新的愿望和辞旧迎新的祈盼，人们希望借助大扫除，把一切“穷运”“晦气”统统扫地出门。

“Da sao chu”（literally spring cleaning） is a routine that every family will do before Chinese New Year. A Cantonese folk rhyme goes "December 28th, sweep the dirt away". Da Sao Chu is a way to get rid of the unlucky and welcome the festivity. The custom represents that people wish to establish something new in place of the old. It’s an aspiration for people to do away with bad luck by doing “Da sao chu”.

外教尤金老师第一次在中国过新年，共乐小学的同学们邀请他到家里一起体验大扫除的乐趣。

It’s the first time that our foreign teacher Eugene has spent the Chinese New Year in China. Students in Gongle Primary School invite him to experience the joy of “Da sao chu” at home.

擦窗户、扫地板、贴福字……尤金老师和同学们一起动手，将家里打扫的整洁明亮，焕然一新，他们将一起开开心心地迎接新年。

Eugene and the students do the cleaning together, such as cleaning the windows, sweeping the floor, sticking the word “Fu” and so on. They have given the place a completely new look and then they will welcome the new year happily.

喜添新岁月，福满旧山河

愿所求皆应愿，所行化坦途

多喜乐，长安宁
