Heyuan City
【General Introduction】
Heyuan is situated in the northeastern part of Guangdong Province and the mid-upper reaches of the Dongjiang River. It exercises
jurisdiction over Yuancheng District, Dongyuan, Heping, Longchuan, Zijin and Lianping Counties, with an area of 15,800 square kilometers
and a population of 3,412,600.
【History】
Heyuan was in the south of ancient Yangzhou. In the first year of Yongming's Reign of the Southern Dynasty (A.D. 483), part of
Longchuan County became Heyuan County. With a history of more than 2000 years, Heyuan is known as the ancient home of Hakkas people and a land of greenness.

【Economy】
In terms of economy, Heyuan had been backward in the past, but began to accelerate in 2006. The city's GDP went up by 27.3
percent compared with the previous year, marking a new high. Heyuan ranks among the fastest-growing district-level municipalities in
Guangdong. The city boasts quite a few famous brands, including a variety of top brand names in the province.
Meizhou City

Meizhou is located in the northeastern part of Guangdong Province, bordering on Fujian Province and Jiangxi Province. It covers
an area of 15,836 square kilometers. Its current jurisdiction includes Meijiang District, Xingning City and six counties of Meixian, Pingyuan,
Jiaoling, Dabu, Fengshun and Wuhua, with a total population of 5 million. Mountains and hills account for almost 90% of the city's total area.
【History】
Meizhou has a history of more than 1000 years. During its development and evolution, Hakka culture has incorporated cultures
from the Central Plains, Baiyue and South Asia and has become unique in its own right. So far, 130 traditional cultural varieties have been
preserved, such as Hakka folk songs, Guangdong Han Opera, Tea-picking Drama, Muppet, Zhuma Dance, Boat Lamp, Fiery Dragon and
Huahuanlong Dance. It is also home to many historical celebrities like Ye Jianying and Huang Zunxian, as well as 120 cultural
scenic spots.
【Economy】
In recent years, with the implementation of the new development strategy , Meizhou's economic and social causes have
registered a healthy, coordinated, rapid and sustained development. Great strides has also been made in the field of biological environmental
protection. At present, the city has a forest of 4002 square kilometers and the forest coverage is up to 72%.
