CHINA'S Ministry of Labor and Social Security pledged yesterday to take five measures to raise the salary for ordinary employees, an effort to ensure fair pay and improve relations between workers and employers.
The measures include implementing a salary guideline system that prescribes employee's minimum salary according to local economic development, said Qiu Xiaoping, the director of the ministry's Labor and Salary Department, at a conference in Tianjin Municipality, Xinhua news agency reported today.
The ministry will encourage employers to set up a consultation system with their workers to ensure that everyone can get their economic share of the company's development, Qiu said.
Updated information about labor markets and wage guidelines will also be released by the ministry to help companies set reasonable wages, Qiu said.
Labor management and supervision systems will be strengthened to ensure that employees are not working illegal, uncompensated overtime, Qiu said.
