An American and a Pakistani soldier were killed when unidentified gunmen fired at them in the Pakistani tribal territory Monday, the Pakistani army said.
Army spokesman Major General Waheed Arshad said that miscreants opened fire on the vehicles of American and Pakistani soldiers when they were returning from a meeting with Afghan officials at the border areas.
The meeting was convened to stop clashes between Pakistani and Afghan forces along the border.
"There was no clash on Monday," Arshad said.
He said that investigations have started as to who fired on the American and Pakistani soldiers.
He said that three American and four Pakistani soldiers were injured when the miscreants attacked them. "One American and a Pakistani soldier died later due to injured," the spokesman said.
On Sunday, seven Afghan soldiers were killed when Pakistani soldiers returned fire to an attack by the Afghan forces in the Pakistani Kurrum tribal region, according to Pakistani military.
