Chinese baritone Shi Heng will hold his first Shenzhen recital Saturday, where he will sing classical songs, including “Le Spectre de la Rose” and “Chanson à Boire,” and the Chinese folk song “Along the Songhua River.”

Born in 1979 in Suzhou City, Shi studied in the vocal music department of Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 1998 and received the highest scores when he graduated in 2003.

In the same year he entered Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, and was admitted to Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris in 2004 and Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Paris in 2005 respectively.

An apprentice of Peggy Bouveret, the world-famous opera artist and soprano, Shi was the first Chinese vocal music student in Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Paris.

During his stay in France, Shi won many prizes in international vocal music competitions and earned a good reputation in the field of opera in France. French music critics marked him out as a rare vocalist with an extremely wide range.
