In 2004, foreign investment in Shenzhen grew smoothly. The annual contracted volume of direct investment reached US$ 4.121 billion, 28.6 percent higher than the year before. The actual direct foreign investment hit US$2.35 billion, 10.4 percent more than the previous year.
