Driven by Parks Strategy
Shenzhen has adopted a "driven by parks" strategy, creating an economy of scale generated by hi-tech production and modern manufacturing.
Shenzhen Hi-tech Industrial Park
Located next to the western part of Shennan Thoroughfare, the Shenzhen Hi-tech Industrial Park was established in 1996, covering a planned area of 11.52 square kilometers, in which the area for hi-tech industry covers 3.3 square kilometers. With electronic information industry as the backbone, it speeds up to develop bio-medicine industry, optical electronics industry, and new material developing industry. It was certified as a National Hi-tech Park and Hi-tech Products Export Base, as well as a China APEC Hi-tech Industrial Park. In 2004, high and new tech products accounted for 108.837 billion yuan, with an average turnover of 9.46 billion yuan per square kilometer.
Qianhai Industrial Park
With a total planned area of 1sqkm, it has targeted software development and technology achievement transformation.
