    Getting Around

Shenzhen boasts a well-planned and smoothly-operated inner-city transportation system, offering several options to travel around the city.

MetroThe Shenzhen Metro started operating in late 2004 and is still under expansion. Currently there are two lines:

Metro Line One runs between the Luohu Border Checkpoint to the Windows of the World (Shi Jie Zhi Chuang), from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. It operates at 6-minute frequency during rush hours and up-to-11-minute frequencies at other times.

Metro Line Four runs from Fumin Road to the Children's Palace (Shao Nian Gong). It operates at 17-minute frequency from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

    Taxis

For taxis registered in the special economic zone (yellow or red taxis), their meters start at 12.5 yuan for the first three kilometers. For those registered outside the zone (green ones), the meters start at 7 yuan for the first two kilometers.

After 11:00 p.m., the taxi fare will include an extra service fee, 30% (for yellow/red taxis) or 20% (for green ones) of the normal charge. The total fare will be automatically calculated by the meter.

    Buses

Local buses usually start at two or three yuan, and long trips might cost about 10 yuan. Please remember to bring some changes if you choose to take a bus, because most lines (usually those with prepaid-card readers) have no ticket sellers.
