General Introduction
Shenzhen industry, featuring in export-oriented economy, shoulders half of the city's whole economy. Its industrial output maintains a fast growth for 13 consecutive years, amounting to 191 billion yuan in 2004, an increase of 23.8 percent over the previous year, weighing 55.9 percent of the city's total industrial production volume. The industry contributed 76.3 percent for the city's economic growth, 1.7 percent increase than the previous year.
The State-owned industrial companies and non-State-owned companies with an annual sales income of more than five million yuan totaled added more 181.1 billion to overall industrial output value, an increase of 23.8 percent in 2004 compared with a year ago.
Of that, 13.39 billion yuan was added by heavy industries and 47.3 billion yuan by light industries, an increase of 24.7 percent and 16.1 percent over the previous year. The added value of telecommunication, computer and other electronic manufacturers reached 89.6 billion yuan, up by 36.7 percent.
Industrial product export had been greatly improved. The sales of industrial output value reached 636 billion yuan, increased by 27 percent, among which, the good value exported to other countries reached 405 billion yuan, a growth of 28.5 percent, weighing 63.7 percent of total industrial output value, 5.9 percent more than the previous year.
