Migratory Culture

As the window of China reform and opening up to the outside world, Shenzhen is a melting pot of the country. The city is amiable, compatible to both inner area culture and Hong Kong culture, thus making it a wonder place for talents from home and abroad to start their businesses.

Talent Structure

The city has more than 600,000 professionals, accounting for 10 percent of the city's total population. The city now boasts six academicians, 15 special experts, 533 experts who get subsidies from governments at various levels, 32,000 citizens with master degrees, 2,300 citizens with doctorate degrees, more than 5,000 returned overseas Chinese students and about 6,000 experts from Hong Kong and Macao.

The city's Party and municipal organs have about 20,000 officials, of which 35 have bachelor degrees and 7.5 percent have master degrees.

Of the city's total number of professionals, 21,140 have middle-level professional titles and 4.4 percent have senior professional titles. The city has 5,000 managers working in various State-owned companies, 925 of them have postgraduate degrees. Only 0.4 percent of employees in the city's civilian-run enterprises have a bachelor or above educational level. More than 80 percent of the city's talent is concentrated in 5 percent of the city's key enterprises.
