"Special Economic Zone Regulations of Guangdong Province" has been passed by the fifth Committee of the National People's Congress on August 26th. 1980. Luohu,Futian,NanShan and Yantian districts are inside the Special Economic Zone.
Covering an area of 395.81 square kilometers, the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone is situated in the south of Shenzhen city between Beizaijiao by Dapeng Bay in the east and Anle Village by the Pearl River estuary in the west. It is to the south of Mountain Wutong and Mountain Yangtai, and borders on the "the New Territories" of Hong Kong in the south.
A demarcation line set up in June, 1982 and put into use in 1985, of which 129.7 kilometers separates the Special Economic Zone from the rest of the city. There are 11 land checkpoints along the 9 highways, including Nantou, Shawan, Baimang, Yantian, Beizaijiao, Buji, Tongle, Meilin, Shekou, Xichong and Qingshuihe, which run between the Special Economic Zone and the rest of the city.
